Barcaldine 60 & Better Program is one of 23 programs across Queensland. 60 & Better Programs are healthy ageing programs designed to encourage people to maintain their interests and participate in all aspects of life through active physical, social and mental interaction. They are not restricted to those over 60 years of age. All people over 50 years are eligible to participate.
We offer weekly exercise classes, tai chi sessions and croquet. There is a monthly health talk and steering committee meetings are held monthly. Morning teas, games mornings, lunches and visits to other towns and other groups are also on our list of activities. There are books and puzzles for use at the centre or to borrow. Carpet bowls, boules, disc bowls, table tennis and putting are some of the other games available.
A number of computers are available for participant use and Broadband for Seniors has been installed. For more advanced computer operation TAFE has provided some courses.
