Why Leave Town gift cards are aimed at encouraging local shopping and so can only be spent at participating local businesses. You cannot use this card in businesses that have not signed up for the program.
You can only use the Why Leave Town Gift Card within the Barcaldine Regional Council area as it will not work in other Council areas that use the same program.
The whole idea of the Why Leave Town Gift Card is that it can only be spent in the participating businesses Alpha, Aramac, Barcaldine, Jericho or Muttaburra………hence keeping the money local!
Just a little about the cards:
- A person can add $10.00 to $1,000.00 to the card with a three-year expiry from the date of purchase.
- The cards can only be loaded once.
- The cards can be used at multiple stores until the value is spent.
- The gift cards can be registered and if it is lost, the card will be cancelled and the person will be re-issued with a new card.
- Businesses and individuals can bulk order the cards. It is recommended that any orders over 20 gift cards are processed through the Why Leave Town bulk order system.
- Customers can purchase a “Digital Gift Card” to send to family or friends
- Unfortunately, Square readers are not compatible with the physical gift cards.

Digital Card
For those business houses who hold a square reader and want to be part of the program a digital version of the Barcaldine Gift Card though is now available. You will need to register using the link below and can then be setup to accept the digital version of the card.
